Shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps in the U.S. reached 903,856 units in September 2024, marking an 18.4% increase from 763,301 units in September 2023. Specifically, central air conditioner shipments rose by 12.8%, totaling 520,197 units compared to 461,330 units last year. Meanwhile, air-source heat pump shipments saw a significant 27.1% increase to 383,659 units, up from 301,971 units in September 2023.
For the year to date, combined shipments of these products increased by 5.6%, with 7,639,648 units shipped compared to 7,232,656 units during the same period last year. Central air conditioners contributed to this growth with a 4.2% rise to 4,423,927 units from 4,244,595 units. Air-source heat pumps experienced a 7.6% increase, totaling 3,215,721 units against 2,988,061 units in 2023.
