Australia offers mobile access to key RAC Standards for licensed technicians

The Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) is offering licensed refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) technicians and businesses mobile-only access to a curated set of industry standards via the Standards Australia app.

This initiative is available to holders of the ARC Refrigerant Handling Licence (RHL) and Refrigerant Trading Authorisation (RTA), who can obtain a voucher code by submitting a request form. The voucher provides free access to selected standards referenced in Section 135 of the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Regulations 1995 (Cth).

The standards set includes:

  • AS/NZS 5149.1:2016 – Safety and environmental requirements: Definitions, classification and selection criteria (ISO 5149-1:2014, MOD)

  • AS/NZS ISO 817:2016 – Refrigerants: Designation and safety classification

  • AS/NZS 5149.4:2016 – Safety and environmental requirements: Operation, maintenance, repair and recovery (ISO 5149-4:2014, MOD)

  • AS/NZS 5149.3:2016 – Safety and environmental requirements: Installation site (ISO 5149-3:2014, MOD)

  • AS/NZS 5149.2:2016 – Safety and environmental requirements: Design, construction, testing, marking and documentation (ISO 5149-2:2014, MOD)

These standards provide technical guidance for specifying, designing, installing, servicing, repairing, and decommissioning RAC equipment. Compliance with these standards is required for maintaining licensing conditions.

Voucher codes are issued on a first-come, first-served basis and must be redeemed for mobile-only access through the Standards Australia store and app.
