Beijer Ref opens refrigerant management facility in New Zealand

Beijer Ref New Zealand has opened Gas2Go New Zealand’s new national facility, marking an investment in refrigerant management, compliance, and supply chain reliability in the country’s HVAC&R sector. The company positions the site as a step toward supporting the transition to lower-emission refrigerant solutions.

The purpose-built facility is designed to strengthen nationwide supply and product quality. It includes decanting services, an AHRI-700-level testing laboratory to ensure cylinder safety and purity, and support for 20 distribution outlets across New Zealand. The testing capability reflects increasing industry focus on refrigerant quality assurance, contamination prevention, and compliance.

Alongside the facility, the company introduced the Gas2Go Club, a membership-based cylinder management programme aimed at improving tracking, cost control, and transparency. The programme offers up to 90 days of free cylinder rental, barcode-tracked inventory, gas top-up credits for part-filled cylinder returns, and nationwide exchange through Beijer Ref’s distribution network.

According to Wayne Ferguson, Chief Operating Officer and EVP APAC of Beijer Ref, the opening is “a pivotal milestone, not only in our own sustainability journey, but also in advancing the wider HVAC&R sector in New Zealand,” adding that the company aims to expand services and improve refrigerant gas management across the industry.
