BITZER delivers first new condenser produced at extended factory in Germany

After having acquired the Alfa Laval portfolio of shell and tube evaporators and condensers in April 2018, BITZER has been setting up its factory in Rottenburg-Hailfingen for this moment: The first new condenser produced there has been delivered to a customer.

BITZER acquired the Alfa Laval portfolio of shell and tube evaporators and condensers for air conditioning and refrigeration applications in April 2018. Until May 2019, these products were manufactured in the Alfa Laval factory in Alonte, Italy, for BITZER. Ever since, production has been in the process of being transferred to the BITZER HEXPV (heat exchangers and pressure vessels) factory in Germany, with a recent highlight: in July 2019, the first new BITZER condenser was manufactured in Rottenburg-Hailfingen and was shipped to a customer.

Important milestone

Since the beginning of July 2019, all CRF, CXP, CXPM and McDEW condensers are no longer manufactured in Alonte but at the Rottenburg-Hailfingen site by BITZER directly. Direct-expansion evaporators will be manufactured there as of January 2020.

Starting in 2018, BITZER’s Rottenburg-Hailfingen site has been undergoing an expansion process, adding more production capacity and jobs, amongst others, for HEXPV production. The factory has already been producing BITZER heat exchangers and pressure vessels since 1985. By the end of 2019, manufacturing of the former Alfa Laval portfolio will be completely transferred to the BITZER site in Southern Germany. Mixed orders of compressors and condensers are already possible. Mixed orders of compressors and evaporators will be possible as of 2020.

BITZER has been producing condensers for fresh- and seawater applications since the 1950s. The acquisition of Alfa Laval’s portfolio of shell and tube evaporators and condensers has turned BITZER into the largest independent manufacturer in the shell and tube heat exchanger market worldwide. The company manufactures HEXPV products in its factories in Germany, the US and Australia.
