Brian Suggitt elected for third term as President of Eurovent Middle East

During the Annual Meeting of Eurovent Middle East, the association of the region’s leading HVACR manufacturers, members have elected Brian Suggitt (Managing Director, Systemair UAE) as their President. For his third consecutive term, Suggitt has introduced a special theme for the year.

Under the tagline “Making a difference by driving a change”, Brian Suggitt has summarised the following core issues which shall deserve attention during his term to bring a renewed momentum to the Middle East’s HVACR sector:

1. Energy efficiency through choice of product and technology.

2. Indoor Air Quality through enforcement of ISO16890 and maintenance standards.

3. Retrofitting to enhance building efficiencies and personal well-being.

4. Improving cold chain security and efficiency.

After thanking members for the election and the trust in his work, Suggitt went straight to action and highlighted example cases of issues that deserve change across relevant product areas:

• Fans and motors: “Belt driven fans and FEG fan measurements should be a thing of the past once and for all. IE3 should be the minimum requirement for all motors.”

• Cooling: “We should continue to drive fraudulent products out of the market. Seasonal efficiency calculations should finally be introduced in legislation and everyone must work towards utilising the correct gases taking example of the EU F-Gas Regulation.”

• Air Curtains: “Every cold storage should have an air curtain, and no strips.”

• AHUs: “Smart air handlers should be the norm along with supplying the correct control system to maximise their energy efficiency.”

Members have also emphasised the importance of the upcoming Expo 2020 in Dubai as a platform to showcase world-leading HVACR technologies while raising awareness on energy efficiency and indoor air quality. Systemair has announced its sponsorship of the Swedish pavilion at the Expo and invited the industry to join them for their dedicated ventilation and air conditioning events throughout the duration of the world exhibition.
