CAREL enhances humidity control at The Courtauld Gallery, London

CAREL has completed the installation of a humidification system at The Courtauld Gallery, Somerset House, London. This collaboration aims to maintain optimal environmental conditions to preserve the art collection housed by The Samuel Courtauld Trust, part of The Courtauld Institute of Art.

The project involved the installation of seven heaterSteam humidifiers and four Water Treatment Systems. These systems are designed to ensure precise humidity control, maintaining a stable 50% relative humidity, essential for the preservation of the gallery's exhibits. Preventive maintenance, part of the CAREL solution, also ensures the continuous operation of the humidifiers and provides a high level of support to the museum.

Indoor air quality control is a fundamental, albeit often overlooked, aspect of museum management. The installation of CAREL's isothermal humidification systems and reverse osmosis water treatment, configured to match the air handling units, has made humidity management more efficient, enabling the facility to achieve the highest standards in terms of indoor air quality and service continuity, regardless of the diverse environmental needs within the gallery.

"The installation at The Courtauld Gallery was a unique challenge due to the critical need for precise humidity control to protect the valuable artworks," said Serena Ometto, Group Sales & Marketing Manager, Services Department. "Our team worked closely with the gallery to ensure our heaterSteam humidifiers and water treatment systems were tailored to their specific requirements. The successful implementation of these systems underscores our commitment to providing high-quality service and innovative solutions. CAREL UK's service department provided an in-house service team and a network of partners to ensure the humidifiers operate seamlessly, ensuring efficient operation to protect the museum's investment."
