CAREL integrates Redfish protocol into data centre solutions

CAREL Group has announced that its data centre solutions, including the boss range and the boss one board for programmable controllers, are now compatible with the Redfish protocol. Developed by the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF), Redfish is a standardised management interface designed for modern data centre infrastructures.

Originally introduced in 2015 for server management, the Redfish protocol has evolved to include electrical and cooling components. It enables secure, scalable, and interoperable monitoring of all IT infrastructure, allowing integration between equipment from different manufacturers. Redfish also provides real-time insights into data centre resources, including energy consumption, supporting improved operational efficiency and cost control.

The protocol is particularly relevant for managing liquid cooling systems in data centres. It facilitates real-time control of temperature and energy parameters for IT and cooling equipment, helping maintain optimal performance while avoiding overheating and maximising energy efficiency.

“Thanks to boss and boss one, we are now better able to support our customers in developing cooling solutions, from CDUs to chilled doors, that can be integrated into the Redfish ecosystem,” said Enrico Boscaro, CAREL Group Solution Marketing Manager - Industrial HVAC. “This contributes to the challenge of cooling today’s and tomorrow’s data centers ever more efficiently.”
