Carrier China recently collaborated with the Huadian Corporation for a third time by providing 15 AquaEdge 19XR centrifugal chillers for the Guangzhou Wanbo Central Energy Station.
Wanbo Energy Station is a new landmark project in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and is the largest of two previous energy stations equipped with Carrier HVAC systems. A number of innovative technologies are integrated for this project to provide central cooling, heating and electricity to a 1.6 million square metre business complex. The new HVAC system required a stable operation with a low entering chilled water temperature of 3 C and a chilled water temperature difference of 10 C.
To meet the requirement for large cooling capacity, Carrier China provided AquaEdge19XR chillers featuring the EquiDrive two stage back-to-back compression technology with ceramic bearing system, Carrier SmartVu control system and falling film evaporator. The new energy-efficient system can help reduce energy consumption by 4% compared to other standard high-efficient products. In addition, the project’s design of ultra-low temperature water output and large temperature difference water system also reduced the cost of pipe network laying and energy consumption for chilled water delivery. In the energy station projects, the energy consumed for long-distance delivery of chilled water usually accounts for more than 20% of total system energy consumption.
“The successful collaboration with Huadian Corporation once again illustrates the innovative advantages of Carrier’s centrifugal unit and our extensive experiences,” said Cissy Wang, General Manager, China HVAC Commercial Equipment Distribution, Carrier. “We look forward to continuing to work with our customer to conserve energy and reduce emissions, making our contributions to China’s carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals.”
Previous projects with Huadian include the ShanghaiTech University Energy Station and the National Exhibition & Convention Center (Shanghai) Energy Station.
“Last year, Carrier released its 2030 Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Goals around the areas of people, planet and our communities,” commented Titus Yu, Managing Director of Carrier HVAC North Asia. “These ESG Goals, including the aim to reduce our customers’ carbon footprint by one gigaton, will also contribute to China's economic development and reduce carbon emissions to align with China’s plan to double carbon capture.”
