Carrier Japan Corporation said Chairman Toru Kubo has been selected as chairman of the Japan Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association (JRAIA). Carrier Japan is part of Carrier Global Corporation, which the company describes as a global provider of intelligent climate and energy solutions.
JRAIA works on the development of Japan’s refrigeration and air conditioning industry through research and studies on equipment, standards and guidelines, and initiatives related to environmental protection and safety. The association’s role is becoming more significant amid energy challenges, climate change and the transition to alternative refrigerants, according to the announcement.
Kubo has served as chairman of Carrier Japan since April. The company said he has been working to promote the Carrier brand in Japan and strengthen relationships with key customers and stakeholders across the HVAC industry and broader industrial sectors.
As chairman of JRAIA, Kubo will work with stakeholders on cross-industry initiatives in environmental stewardship, standardization and safety enhancement. Carrier Japan also said he will support industry competitiveness and sustainable growth through engagement in policy dialogue and regulatory frameworks.
Carrier Japan said it will continue collaboration with industry, government and academia to support sustainable growth in Japan’s refrigeration and air conditioning industry and contribute to a low- and zero-carbon society. The company also said it will engage in international policy and regulatory discussions and technical standardization efforts.
