Carrier partners with TechForce to boost HVAC technician training in the US

Carrier Global Corporation has announced a new collaboration with TechForce Foundation to support workforce development in the HVAC sector. The initiative aims to address the technician shortage in the United States by offering scholarships, training access, and recognition programs for aspiring HVAC professionals.

The partnership expands TechForce Foundation’s mission to include HVAC careers, marking its first initiative in this sector. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 400,000 HVAC technician openings are expected in the next decade. Carrier’s approach includes scholarships for financially disadvantaged students, free access to its HVAC online training, and participation in TechForce’s digital career platform serving over 70,000 students and technicians.

As part of the collaboration, Carrier will also help establish a new "HVAC, Homes & Buildings" category within TechForce’s Techs Rock Awards Program to recognize top-performing technicians.

"Carrier is uniquely positioned to help tackle the HVAC technician shortage head on," said David Gitlin, Chairman and CEO of Carrier. "By investing in the next generation of HVAC professionals, we're not only addressing a critical workforce gap, we're ensuring our customers have access to the skilled talent needed to deliver sustainable, intelligent climate and energy solutions."

Jennifer Maher, CEO of TechForce Foundation, added: "This collaboration with Carrier gives students access to scholarships, training, and recognition programs to launch their careers and meet the industry's growing need for skilled technicians."
