Carrier Releases First Environmental Product Declaration for Residential HVAC in North America

Carrier has introduced its first Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for residential HVAC products in North America. This move highlights the company's commitment to sustainability and transparency in assessing the environmental impact of its solutions.

The EPD provides a detailed analysis of the environmental footprint of Carrier's Comfort Fan Coil and Performance Variable-Speed Compact Heat Pump. Based on a life cycle assessment (LCA), it includes key metrics such as carbon dioxide emissions, energy consumption, and natural resource use. The declaration adheres to international standards, including ISO 14025, ensuring credibility and consistency in environmental data reporting.

“Publishing our first residential EPD in North America represents a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility,” said Hakan Yilmaz, SVP, Chief Technology & Sustainability Officer, Carrier. “Transparency is key to empowering homeowners, contractors, and building professionals to make informed choices about the products they install. This EPD not only reflects our dedication to sustainable practices, but it also provides clear, credible data to support green building initiatives.”

The initiative aligns with Carrier’s broader strategy to invest $4 billion in innovative climate and energy solutions that reduce environmental impact. The company aims to help customers avoid more than 1 gigaton of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

Carrier has also been recognized as a Green Builder Media 2024 Eco-Leader for its sustainability transparency, including its publication of 48 EPDs for HVAC products worldwide. The release of this EPD supports the increasing demand for environmentally responsible HVAC solutions by providing consumers with verified data to guide sustainable decision-making.
