Carrier’s AquaEdge 19DV Centrifugal Chiller Design Innovations Support China’s New Infrastructure Goal

Carrier’s newest edition of its innovative AquaEdge 19DV water-cooled centrifugal chiller includes many new features, including free cooling and an expanded operating range, to support China’s new sustainable infrastructure projects for data centers, unmanned factories and other municipal facilities.

The Carrier AquaEdge19DV launched in Asia in 2016 and has been widely recognized for its outstanding performance and excellent energy efficiency. This chiller features EquiDrive two-stage back-to-back compression technology with ceramic bearing system, ultra-low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant, falling film evaporator and the innovative free cooling option, which can all reduce maintenance costs and mechanical room space.

The 19DV also provides free cooling, a strategy for leveraging natural air temperatures, which can result in thousands of dollars in energy savings per year. This new option allows for energy savings without compromising cooling capabilities during China’s transitional seasons.

The AquaEdge 19DV is one of the most environmentally responsible chillers Carrier has ever made. It is due to the efficiency either on or off and the use of refrigerant R-1233zd(E), which provides a host of environmental benefits such as ultra-low global GWP of ~1 and zero ozone depletion.

“The 19DV exemplifies a number of Carrier’s leading technologies,” said Jessica Zhao, Director, CML Applied Product Marketing & Communications, Carrier HVAC North Asia. “We believe that the new chiller features will better serve the sustainability needs of our customers. Carrier has witnessed and participated in China’s rapid development in the green economy, and will continue innovating under the guidance of the State Council’s Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality goals with more efficient and sustainable HVAC solutions.”

The innovative AquaEdge19DV is world-renowned and has won an impressive list of awards in the last few years, including the 2019 Innovative Manufacturer/Supplier of the Year in the Chiller category at the Climate Control Awards hosted by CPI Industry. It also won the 2019 Green Product of the Year in the Energy Management category at the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Green Building Awards, the RAC Cooling Industry Award for Air Conditioning Product of the Year in the System/Standalone category in London, the SEC-Senoko Green Innovation Award at the Singapore Environmental Achievement Awards and the Innovative Product Award of 2017 China Refrigeration Exhibition.

The AquaEdge 19DV’s innovative and efficient design supports Carrier’s aim to reduce its customers’ carbon footprint by more than one gigaton, part of its 2030 ESG Goals.
