Carrier Transicold Dealers of the Year

A Carrier Transicold dealership in Canada and another in the Caribbean took top honors at the annual meeting of Carrier Transicold’s Truck/Trailer/Rail Americas dealers, an event that lived up to its theme, “Strength in Numbers,” with a record turnout of dealers. Reefer Sales & Service, Brampton, Ontario, was named Dealer of the Year – North America, and Marítima Dominicana (MARDOM), Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, was named Dealer of the Year – Latin America. Carrier Transicold’s 2017 Dealer of the Year – North America is Ontario’s Reefer Sales & Service. Pictured (left to right) are, from Carrier Transicold, Tom Ondo, vice president and general manager, Truck/Trailer/Rail Americas and John Monti, region director, Canada and Eastern U.S.; from Reefer Sales & Service, Mark Nice, vice president of sales, Ken Henwood, president, and Steve Henwood, vice president; and David Appel, president, Carrier Transicold and Refrigeration Systems. This was the first Dealer of the Year – North America award for Reefer Sales & Service, a 130-employee enterprise that supports Ontario’s refrigerated transport industry. Ken Henwood, president, Reefer Sales & Service, said multiple factors contributed to the win, including the 2017 consolidation of formerly separate operations into a new 46,000 square-foot Brampton facility with 20 service bays, an expansive parts operation and a new training center. “Plus, we have incredible people who have a genuine commitment to customer service and responsiveness, and we’ve made considerable investments in training,” Henwood said. “It all just came together for us.   For MARDOM, this is its third Dealer of the Year award in nine years, having previously won for 2008 and 2012. Founded as a Carrier-authorized marine container refrigeration service center under the name Reefer Services in 1999, the operation later expanded into the truck and trailer refrigeration business. Led by Mario Chong, vice president of sales, MARDOM is considered a model dealership within Latin America, according to Jesús Estrada, region director for Mexico and Latin America, Carrier Transicold. “MARDOM's performance in 2017 was spectacular,” Estrada said. “They were able to execute important changes in their organization while maintaining aggressive sales performance and retaining a strong culture of customer service. Another dealership that received special honors this year was W&B Service Company of Converse, Texas, recipient of the prestigious Extra Mile award for outstanding customer service. A total of 56 dealerships were recognized with 92 awards for 2017 performance in areas of customer satisfaction, growth, business investment and service proficiency. Marítima Dominicana, based in the Dominican Republic, was named Dealer of the Year – Latin America. Shown (left to right) are: Tom Ondo, vice president and general manager, Truck/Trailer/Rail Americas, Carrier Transicold; Alejandro Genera, sales director, Latin America, Carrier Transicold; David Appel, president, Carrier Transicold and Refrigeration Systems; Jesús López, sales manager, MARDOM; Mario Chong, VP Commercial, MARDOM and Jesús Estrada, region director, Mexico and Latin America, Carrier Transicold.
