CIBSE appoints Vince Arnold as President for 2025–2026

The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) has confirmed Vince Arnold as its President for the 2025–2026 term. His appointment was officially announced during the Institution’s Annual General Meeting on 10 June 2025. He succeeds Fiona Cousins in the role.

Arnold brings over 40 years of experience in Building Services Engineering, including work in construction, maintenance, design, project management, compliance, and health and safety across both public and private sectors. He began his career as an Apprentice Electrician with Royal Mail and later transitioned into academia as a lecturer in Building Services. He subsequently held senior roles at Royal Mail and served nearly two decades as a Company Director at National Design Consultancy, leading the London practice.

A CIBSE member since 1998, Arnold has contributed to the Institution in various capacities. He has served as a Professional Membership and Registration Interviewer, Interviewer Trainer, and Moderator. He chaired the Membership and Registration Panel for over 12 years and also led the Education, Training and Membership Committee. Additionally, he was a member of the Engineering Council’s Registration Standards Committee for six years and became a CIBSE Board Trustee in 2020.

Arnold also chairs the Apprentice of the Year Judging Panel and delivers technical training on the Building Safety Act as part of his outreach work.

“Becoming CIBSE President is an incredible honour and a privilege that I do not take lightly,” Arnold said. “To be where I am today, representing this global community of dedicated engineers, is truly humbling. It is a role that carries great responsibility – not just to lead, but to inspire, to give back and to champion the vital work we do in keeping buildings safe, efficient and future-ready.”

During his presidency, Arnold is expected to promote lifelong learning, professional competence, and cross-generational collaboration in support of a safe, sustainable, and inclusive built environment.
