Copeland and Daikin expand joint venture in Europe for heat pump components

Copeland and Daikin said they are expanding their existing joint venture into Europe to supply residential heat pump solutions. The companies said the cooperation will introduce inverter swing rotary compressors, power electronics and controls designed specifically for European residential heat pumps.

The companies linked the move to Europe’s transition away from fossil fuels and rising demand for residential heat pumps alongside sustainability targets. They said heat pumps are recognized by industry reports as a cornerstone technology that could help reduce global carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 500 million tons by 2030.

Copeland and Daikin said the cooperation will offer a “comprehensive solutions package” alongside application expertise and customer support to help accelerate time to market for OEM adoption. The collaboration builds on an earlier partnership, combining Copeland’s solutions, sales channels and customer support network with Daikin’s swing rotary technology.

After completing post-signing preparations, the joint venture is expected to be operational starting in 2026, serving the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and neighboring territories.

“This cooperation expands and strengthens Copeland’s compression portfolio, enabling us to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions that meet Europe’s growing demand for efficient home heating,” said Ross B. Shuster, chief executive officer of Copeland. “By combining our strengths with Copeland’s extensive sales and service capabilities, Daikin will deliver highly efficient, high-quality inverter swing rotary compressors to the European residential HVAC industry,” said Jiro Tomita, executive associate officer of Daikin.
