Daikin acquires Saltire Facilities Management to expand heat pump services in Scotland

Daikin has acquired Saltire Facilities Management Ltd., a heating services company based in Glasgow, Scotland. The acquisition, made by Daikin Airconditioning UK Limited, aims to strengthen the company’s residential heat pump service network in Scotland, which is experiencing growing demand for heat pump heating. This follows Daikin’s 2024 purchase of Robert Heath Heating, which operates in England and Wales.

Saltire Facilities Management, previously owned by United Capital Group Ltd., employs around 300 people, including over 200 field technicians. The company provides heating system installation, maintenance contracts, and 24/7 service support for residential buildings, with operations in Glasgow and a branch in Birmingham, England.

Daikin highlighted Scotland as a key growth market for heat pumps, supported by the April 2024 ban on installing combustion boilers in new homes. Market demand in Scotland is forecast to reach 70,000 units by 2028. By integrating Saltire and Robert Heath Heating, Daikin aims to create a national service structure to support the UK’s transition to low-carbon heating.

"This acquisition is a significant step towards achieving our strategic goals of creating a national service structure," said Tomoji Miki, Managing Director at Daikin UK. "By combining the strengths of Daikin, Robert Heath Heating and Saltire Facilities Management, we are well-positioned to lead the heat pump market in the UK and provide exceptional service to our customers."

Saltire will continue to operate under its current name as part of the Daikin group. According to Alan Murray, Managing Director of Saltire Facilities Management, joining Daikin will enable the company to expand into the renewable energy sector, enhance technical support for customers, and broaden access to energy-efficient heating solutions.

Daikin stated that the acquisitions of Saltire Facilities Management and Robert Heath Heating will strengthen its UK service infrastructure, complementing its network of more than 40 Sustainable Home Centres. The company plans to maintain and, where possible, improve current service levels for customers and partners.
