Daikin Applied expands data center cooling capabilities with new products, acquisitions and facilities

Daikin Applied has announced a broad expansion of its data center cooling solutions, supported by new technologies, acquisitions, production facilities, and a dedicated global business unit. The company aims to meet the increasing demands of hyperscale and AI-driven data centers with end-to-end cooling architectures designed for reliability, scalability and energy efficiency.

Key among the product developments is the Magnitude® WME-C Quad Chiller, described as the industry's largest capacity chiller with magnetic-bearing technology. It offers a capacity range of 2,000 to 3,000 tons and includes features such as RapidRestore and RideThrough. Two additional products under development—the Pathfinder AWV-C fan deck and the AWM Chiller—are designed to enhance airflow and maintain operation in ambient temperatures up to 135°F (57°C).

To support these innovations, Daikin Applied is expanding its Minneapolis-area Test Lab by 71,000 square feet, adding nine test cells to increase capacity for testing chillers and custom air handlers.

The company has also acquired DDC Solutions, which specializes in modular, high-density hybrid and in-room rack-level cooling systems. This acquisition enhances Daikin Applied’s ability to deliver comprehensive solutions for both white space and infrastructure cooling.

In line with the product expansion, Daikin Applied plans to open two new manufacturing facilities. A new modular solutions plant is scheduled to open in January 2026 to meet growing demand for scalable systems. A second facility will double production capacity for custom air handlers following the company’s 2023 acquisition of Alliance Air Products.

To coordinate these efforts, Daikin Applied has established a dedicated global Data Center Solutions Group. The unit is led by Greg Jeffers, Vice President of Data Center Solutions, who brings experience in complex data center environments and will be supported by an expanded team of Solutions Architects.

“Our mission is to lead the data center industry forward with scalable, reliable, high-performance cooling ecosystems,” said Jeffers. “With our dedicated data center business unit and expanded resources, we’re ready to solve the most demanding cooling challenges.”
