Dr Chris Seeton joins Koura

Koura is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Chris Seeton to the role of Applications Director. In his new position, Dr Seeton will lead Koura’s transition to low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants in response to the ever-tightening EU F-gas phase-downs, the recently signed US AIM Act and the wider global demand for new sustainable solutions.

These product lines include the Klea brand refrigerants residential AC&HP, commercial and transport refrigeration and automotive systems.

Dr Seeton joins Koura from Shrieve Chemical where he was Global Director of Technology. During his time at Shrieve, Dr Seeton developed lubricant technology for HFO refrigerants to stabilize them through all aspects of their operational life – OE, service and value-added technologies.

Prior to joining Shrieve, Dr Seeton was the Global Technology Leader at Honeywell for the development and global implementation of Solstice yf (HFO 1234yf) refrigerant. This work paved the way for the next generation HFO blends in use and proposed today.

Among his industry-wide roles, Dr Seeton served as the ASHRAE Refrigeration Committee Chairman from 2014-2015 and is the current Chairman of the SAE Interior Climate Control Fluids Committee. He is the leading global expert in the determination of refrigerant-lubricant mixture thermophysical properties including viscosity, heat capacity, solubility and miscibility and their effects on working systems, including compressor operation.

Dr Seeton received his Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Center (ACRC) at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana and received Masters and Bachelor degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
