ebm‑papst Expands Xi’an Production Facility to Strengthen Local Presence

ebm‑papst is expanding its production plant in Xi’an, China, with a 27,000-square-meter extension set for completion by mid-2025. The project will bring the facility’s total area to 60,000 square meters and aligns with the company’s "Local for Local" strategy to strengthen its regional operations.

The expansion includes new offices, a research laboratory, production and storage halls, and logistics areas. Construction is progressing, with the shell structure largely completed and interior fittings and electromechanical installations currently underway. The company is investing 30 million euros in the project to enhance its capabilities in the Chinese market.

The Xi’an plant manufactures energy-efficient solutions for key sectors such as data centers and clean rooms. The expansion will also create over 500 new jobs. Sustainability plays a central role in the project, with features such as energy-efficient glazing, thermal insulation, LED lighting, and a geothermal heat pump for air conditioning. The facility also incorporates "sponge city" construction, allowing for rainwater collection and efficient water use. Additionally, ebm‑papst’s own energy-efficient fans are integrated into the ventilation systems.

Dr. Klaus Geißdörfer, CEO of the ebm‑papst Group, emphasized the strategic significance of the project: "With our local-for-local strategy, we are setting up our global regions independently to support our local customers with energy-efficient products, helping them contribute to global CO₂ reduction efforts."
