Edged Data Centers Celebrates Opening of Ultra-Efficient Data Center in Atlanta
Edged Energy, a rapid-growth sustainable infrastructure provider, celebrated a major milestone with the grand opening of its first North American data center. The facility is strategically located at 1800 Thomas Street NW in Atlanta, on the site of the former Tilford Yard. This ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the transformation of the previously vacant site into a vibrant digital hub, introducing the first of three data centers on the 168 MW high-tech campus, known as Edged Atlanta.

The campus is designed for high-density Artificial Intelligence (AI) workloads and features advanced waterless cooling and ultra-efficient energy systems. The event was attended by City of Atlanta and Fulton County officials, Georgia Power, and key project partners.

Develop Fulton recognizes the project's direct benefits, expecting nearly $70 million in tax revenue over ten years. The project also promises minimal environmental impact by using zero water for cooling and employing advanced electrical systems. This initiative underscores the importance of collaborating with developers who prioritize community well-being.

At a time of growing water scarcity, the Edged Atlanta campus stands out for its optimization of water and energy efficiency. Each data center is equipped with the ThermalWorks waterless cooling system, expected to save nearly 664 million gallons of water annually compared to conventional data centers. The modular system supports densities of up to 70 kW per rack with air cooling and 200 kW per rack with plug-and-play liquid cooling integration, boasting an industry-leading average Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.15.

Collaboration with Develop Fulton has turned a vacant site into a state-of-the-art IT campus, representing a $1.69 billion economic investment in the region. This investment brings hundreds of jobs and substantial funding for local public services, propelling the region's digital economy forward.

Atlanta’s data center market has rapidly developed, backed by a deep talent pool, reliable power, and exceptional fiber connectivity, providing high-speed connections nationwide.

The first building of the Atlanta campus is now operational, delivering 27 MW of capacity to the region. This facility joins a growing network of Edged data centers under construction across the U.S., including in Chicago, Kansas City, Dallas, Columbus, and Phoenix. Edged is a subsidiary of Endeavour, with nearly a dozen data centers operating or under construction in Europe and North America, and a gigawatt-scale project pipeline.
