Embraco, part of Nidec Global Appliance, has announced it will begin manufacturing compressors in India with a new facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra. The plant is scheduled to start operations in the second half of 2026.
The facility will produce Embraco compressors for residential and commercial refrigeration, as well as electronic components. It will have an annual capacity of 6 million units. The investment, totaling over $120 million, includes a 55,000 m² (approx. 592,000 ft²) built-up area and is expected to generate 750 to 1,000 direct jobs.
Four compressor series will be produced: fixed-speed models ES and EL, and variable-speed models FMS and VLT. The ES and EL series are compact, energy-efficient, and suitable for residential refrigeration, with the ES also available for commercial use. The FMS is designed for residential appliances and the VLT for commercial refrigeration. Both variable-speed models are compact and incorporate inverter technology for improved energy efficiency and cooling performance.
The factory will also produce inverters, which regulate compressor speed to match cooling demand.
“This investment marks a key milestone in our strategy to grow and strengthen our business across international markets,” said Alberto Casnati, President of Nidec Global Appliance. “This new facility will allow us to better meet local demand with high-efficiency, locally produced solutions for both the household and commercial sectors.”
