The Eurovent Product Group ‘Air Filters’ has unanimously re-elected Marc Schmidt as Chairman and Thomas Caesar as Vice-Chairman for a new term. The vote ensures the continuation of a leadership team that has guided the group through recent regulatory and standardisation developments in the air filtration sector.
Marc Schmidt has served as Chairman since 2020. During his tenure, the group has expanded its involvement in EU policy discussions, enhanced cooperation with European institutions, and contributed to the harmonisation of performance and energy-efficiency standards for air filters.
Thomas Caesar, returning as Vice-Chairman, is noted for his contributions to filtration standards, including the development of ISO 16890. He remains active in drafting Eurovent technical guidance documents related to air filter classification and performance.
Following the re-election, Schmidt stated: “Thank you to all participants for re-electing me as Chairman of the Eurovent PG-FIL. It is my pleasure and honour to chair such a knowledgeable and productive group. Special thanks to the group Secretary, Igor Sikonczyk, for preparing the meeting.”
Schmidt also noted current topics under discussion, including the classification of absorbents in hybrid filters according to ISO 16890 and the implementation of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) to assess sustainability alongside energy efficiency and filtration performance.
Caesar added: “I am very thankful to the group for re-electing me as Vice-Chairman and by this being able to further support Marc and the group in our important tasks. Air filtration is the answer to many of the global challenges to achieve a healthy and sustainable environment, indoors as well as outdoors.”
The Eurovent PG-FIL focuses on air filters and works with related product groups across the HVACR industry. Its responsibilities include legislative advocacy, contributions to EN and ISO standard development, and support for industry promotion and export efforts.
