Eurovent, in cooperation with AMCA Europe and EVIA, has released a joint FAQ guide on the implementation of Regulation (EU) 2024/1834, which sets new Ecodesign requirements for fans across the EU market.
Published on 24 July 2024 and commonly referred to as ErP2026, the new regulation replaces Regulation (EU) 327/2011 (ErP2015). It introduces stricter energy efficiency requirements, new product information obligations, and measures supporting the circular economy. The FAQ guide offers an industry-wide interpretation to help manufacturers, integrators, and market surveillance authorities apply the rules consistently.
The publication addresses common questions regarding the regulation and aims to clarify areas open to interpretation. It was jointly developed by Eurovent’s Product Group Fan Technology (PG-FANS), members of AMCA Europe, and EVIA’s Fans Working Group, representing the majority of fan manufacturers in the EMEA region.
Julien Grilliat, Chairperson of Eurovent’s Product Group Fan Technology, stated: “Vice-Chairman Simon Engert and I are very proud to present this FAQ, as it is an unprecedented collaboration of the three major European trade associations addressing fans. We do hope it will accompany fan manufacturers along their journey to conformity with the ErP2026 requirements and shed light on critical points. We are already working on a second edition that will focus on spare part-related topics.”
Harald Rudelgass, Chair of the AMCA Europe Advocacy Committee, added: “The aim of the jointly developed guide is not only to ensure high-quality products, but also to raise them to a new level of performance. Compliance with international and recognised standards makes a significant contribution to operational safety, sustainability and the ability to innovate, both in the industrial and building technology environment.”
