Eurovent has published a new Recommendation on the application of safety and environmental legislation to commercial refrigeration systems across the EMEA region. The document was developed by the Eurovent Product Group ‘Commercial Refrigeration Equipment’ (PG-RDC).
The Recommendation offers a detailed overview of relevant European regulations covering the design, installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of commercial refrigeration systems. It is intended as a reference for manufacturers, designers, installers, maintenance professionals, and system operators.
Topics addressed include the regulatory and standardisation framework for refrigeration equipment, safety classifications, and the environmental impact of refrigerants. The document also considers substances affected by the PFAS issue under REACH.
“This Recommendation equips the industry with essential clarity at a crucial time,” said Massimiliano Ferrario, Secretary of Eurovent PG-RDC. “By aligning technical practice with evolving safety and environmental rules, we help ensure that refrigeration systems remain safe, sustainable, and future-ready across all EMEA markets.”
The Eurovent PG-RDC group represents a broad range of commercial refrigeration products, including refrigerated display cabinets, walk-in cold rooms, beverage coolers, ice-cream freezers, and refrigeration packs. The document is available for free download on the
