Gradient Names Patrick Bischoff as CEO

Gradient has appointed Patrick Bischoff as its new Chief Executive Officer. A veteran in climate technology and renewable energy, Bischoff joins the company at a key moment in its growth. Dr. Vince Romanin, Gradient's co-founder and former CEO, will remain with the company as Chief Technology Officer.

The announcement comes as Gradient's All-Weather 120V Window Heat Pump meets the Advanced Tier on the Consortium for Energy Efficiency's (CEE) Qualified Product List, a new category for room heat pumps. This recognition highlights the product’s efficiency and positions it for significant opportunities, including up to $3,200 in tax credits under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

"Gradient's mission to decarbonize the HVAC industry while creating comfortable living environments resonates deeply with my professional goals and personal values," said Bischoff. "I look forward to scaling our impact and accelerating the transition to sustainable energy solutions."

Bischoff brings over 20 years of experience in leadership roles across enterprise software, climate technology, and renewable energy. Prior to Gradient, he served as COO at Recurve, where he transformed the company’s business model and secured funding. At Greensmith Energy Solutions, he drove revenue growth from $500,000 to $30 million, leading to its acquisition by Wärtsilä Corporation.

Dr. Vince Romanin expressed confidence in Bischoff’s leadership, noting, "Patrick's deep expertise in scaling climate tech companies and his passionate commitment to sustainability make him the ideal leader to guide Gradient through its next phase of growth."

The milestone product, the All-Weather 120V Window Heat Pump, is designed for efficiency in both extreme heat and cold climates. With its sleek design and compatibility with standard 120V outlets, the unit aligns with Gradient’s mission to electrify and decarbonize buildings.

Gradient is also strengthening its board with the addition of Jane Sidebottom, a seasoned leader with experience at Carrier and Trane.

Under Bischoff's leadership, Gradient aims to expand its reach in the $200 billion global HVAC market, driving innovation and reducing onsite carbon emissions.
