Heat Pump Sector Key to EU's Energy Transformation
Nearly half of the European Union’s (EU) energy consumption is dedicated to heating and cooling, with over 70% still relying on imported fossil fuels. Heat pumps present a clean and cost-efficient alternative for heating, cooling, and hot water production, offering substantial energy savings and emission reductions compared to traditional heating systems, while also lowering dependence on energy imports.

Recognized as a pivotal cleantech industry by the European Commission’s Net-Zero Industry Act (NZIA), heat pumps bolster Europe's climate and energy objectives and enhance economic resilience and competitiveness. To fully leverage their potential, EU policymakers need to focus on creating supportive policies and financial frameworks.
