J2 Innovations has announced a strategic partnership with Panasonic Europe, a prominent player in the HVAC industry, to deliver next-generation plant management solutions for commercial buildings across Europe.

J2 Innovations, a Siemens company based in California, is the innovator behind FIN Framework, a smart open platform for building management and IoT applications. FIN is used by OEMs and systems integrators to seamlessly build controls and automation equipment, and it was a natural choice for Panasonic HVAC Europe that sought the perfect technology that could seamlessly integrate edge-to-cloud solutions.

Both J2 Innovations and Panasonic HVAC Europe are dedicated to pioneering smart building solutions that enhance energy efficiency, comfort, and operational efficiency. The collaboration commenced with developing the innovative Panasonic Smart Edge product, built on the FIN platform.

Oriol Cervelló, IoT & Cloud Services Manager at Panasonic Europe, said: “We are thrilled to collaborate with J2 Innovations. They not only have the right product but also the right team of experts to support our ambitious goals.’’

FIN Framework’s versatility and powerful capabilities, combined with the expertise and state-of-the-art approach of the J2 Innovations team, made this partnership a natural choice.

“The Panasonic Smart Edge is a testament to our shared vision of innovation and excellence in plant and building management. This product will greatly benefit our customers by providing a comprehensive and intuitive solution for managing their commercial HVAC systems.” – Oriol added.

Panasonic has become one of the most recognised names in the heating and cooling sector, having produced its first home cooler in 1958. The new collaboration demonstrates the company’s focus on smart technology and underscores its commitment to sustainability and operational excellence in plant management.

By leveraging the capabilities of the FIN Framework, the Panasonic Smart Edge can significantly enhance energy efficiency, improve comfort within commercial buildings, and optimize the lifecycle of heat pumps and chillers.

One of the standout features of the Panasonic Smart Edge is its simplified, plug & play workflow design. This user-friendly approach enables Panasonic installers to perform a full commissioning job and establish cloud connectivity (when required) without needing support from system integrators. This not only streamlines the installation process but also ensures rapid deployment and ease of use.

The Panasonic Smart Edge also boasts an enhanced and intuitive user interface specifically designed for energy managers, building owners, and technicians. This interface provides different levels of access, ensuring that each stakeholder receives the precise information they need.

Energy managers can efficiently monitor and optimize energy usage, building owners can gain insights into overall system performance, and technicians can access detailed technical data for maintenance and troubleshooting. This tailored approach enhances usability and ensures that all users can effectively manage and operate the building systems.

Matteo Pierone, Managing Director at J2 Innovations, commented: “FIN is the leading platform for smart buildings, smart equipment and IoT. Our partnership with Panasonic HVAC Europe represents a major milestone in advancing building management solutions.’’

The Panasonic Smart Edge, powered by the FIN Framework, will set a new standard in the market, contributing to reaching the 2030 sustainability goals in commercial buildings.

“This is just the first product, but with this collaboration we believe Panasonic has chosen a technology partner as a foundation for future commercial IoT products. We look forward to the positive changes our collaboration with Panasonic HVAC Europe will bring to commercial buildings throughout the region. Together, we are committed to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.” – added Matteo.
