Koura Broadens Lower GWP Refrigerant Portfolio with Distribution of R-454B in U.S.

Orbia Advance Corporation S.A.B. de C.V. Fluor & Energy Materials business (Koura), one of the world’s largest producers of fluoroproducts and technologies, announced it will distribute R-454B in the U.S. aftermarket. With Koura as a distributor, the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) industry will have greater access to a next generation refrigerant backed by an organization recognized for its commitment to customer service and innovation.

R-454B, commercially produced by Chemours, furthers Orbia’s commitment to expanding its lower global warming potential (GWP) product portfolio. The product is now available from Koura to new and existing customers throughout the U.S.

R-454B is a high-performing, lower GWP replacement for R-410A in new HVAC equipment, including residential, light commercial, and commercial positive displacement; direct expansion (DX) chillers and air conditioning (AC); window units and portable AC; heat pumps and chillers; mini-split, multi-split and ducted-split units; and packaged terminal air conditioners (PTACs).

Key benefits include easy conversion with minimal changes from R-410A design. The refrigerant provides excellent performance in normal and high ambient conditions, a low temperature glide with easy top off after leaks and miscibility with polyester (POE) lubricants.

In addition to distributing R-454B, Orbia has developed a suite of lower GWP refrigerants for the automotive industry, cold chain refrigeration and transport refrigeration, heat pump systems and more.
