LAUDA DR. R. WOBSER GMBH & CO. KG officially inaugurated its new production facility in Pinghu, China, marking a key step in its international growth strategy. This new 2,300 square meter plant doubles the company’s previous production space in China, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the Asian market. LAUDA, a global leader in precise temperature control, has been manufacturing in China for over a decade.
The opening ceremony in Pinghu brought together approximately 50 guests, including LAUDA’s President & CEO, Dr. Gunther Wobser, COO Dr. Marc Stricker, and Director of Global Production Christoph Baumann. Local dignitaries such as Miao He, Secretary of the Pinghu Economic-Technological Development Committee, and Xuebin Wang, Director of the PEDZ Administrative Committee, were also in attendance. The celebration included traditional Chinese drum dancing, lion dancing, and mask changing.
Dr. Gunther Wobser emphasized the strategic significance of relocating from Shanghai to Pinghu and outlined LAUDA's long-term commitment to Asia. "Our journey in the Far East began in 2006 with our 'Focus Asia' initiative. Since then, we have established a robust presence, starting with sales in 2008, followed by the launch of production in 2013. Today, with the new facility in Pinghu, we are not only doubling our capacity but also reinforcing our dedication to this dynamic region," he noted.
The rapid nine-month relocation and expansion highlighted LAUDA's confidence in the Chinese market and the capabilities of its local team. Dr. Marc Stricker credited the successful project execution to the team's dedication and efficiency. This investment is part of LAUDA’s plan to ensure consistent product quality, especially for entry-level devices manufactured in China.
With the new plant, LAUDA expects a projected annual turnover of €120 million and aims to strengthen its global supply chain and innovative capacity, particularly in response to growing Asian market demand. The facility in Pinghu is set to enhance flexibility in meeting customer requirements and will support expanded research and development activities locally.
This expansion represents a strategic move to position LAUDA for sustainable growth in Asia while supporting global operations, strengthening the company's ability to innovate and adapt to market needs worldwide.
