MHI Releases Integrated and Sustainability Reports for Fiscal Year 2025

Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has published two key corporate documents: the “MHI REPORT 2025” and the “SUSTAINABILITY DATABOOK 2025.” The reports provide a comprehensive overview of MHI Group’s financial and non-financial performance for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2025.

The “MHI REPORT 2025” introduces the new corporate strategy “Innovative Total Optimization (ITO),” established by President and CEO Eisaku Ito. This approach focuses on achieving Group-Wide Optimization and Reach Expansion to foster a cycle of high profitability and reinvestment in growth. The report also includes insights from CFO Hiroshi Nishio on financial strategy and sustainability-focused capital allocation.

Two feature sections further elaborate on MHI’s future direction. The first highlights strategic initiatives in growth sectors such as data centers, with commentary from CSO Masayuki Suematsu and a roundtable on market outlook and expansion potential. The second centers on the Group’s technology platform, where CTO Tomoaki Omura outlines the development of a Shared Technology Framework to support both current operations and long-term innovation.

Governance is another major focus. A roundtable discussion with three outside directors reviews the company’s governance evolution since its 2015 shift to an Audit and Supervisory Committee structure, with attention to CEO succession and the role of key committees.

The accompanying “SUSTAINABILITY DATABOOK 2025” presents MHI Group’s sustainability performance across environmental, social, and governance dimensions. It includes expanded reporting on circular economy initiatives and biodiversity, including the certification of “Wadaoki Forest” in Hiroshima Prefecture as a Nationally Certified Sustainably Managed Natural Site.

Also featured is the “Strategy Map for Well-being and Health Management,” which outlines efforts to promote employee health and engagement. The Databook organizes information under key categories and includes performance metrics on decarbonization, diversity, supply chain management, and human rights.

MHI states that it aims to address global challenges through its technologies, contributing to customer value and societal sustainability while enhancing corporate value.
