New Eurovent Recommendation on AHU control systems

Eurovent has just released its brand-new Recommendation 6/17 on control systems for Air Handling Units. The document was prepared in a joint effort by participants of the Eurovent Product Group ‘Air Handling Units’ (PG-AHU).

Eurovent 6/17 provides recommendations on minimum functional requirements for control systems of Air Handling Units and clarifies the importance of controls in regard to energy consumption, safety, commissioning and maintenance aspects. It also explains the advantages of factory-supplied optimised systems and describes the legislative and normative framework of Air Handling Unit controls.

Martin Lenz, Chairman of Eurovent PG-AHU, remarked: “The primary role of a control system is to manage all functions of the Air Handling Unit and other components of the ventilation system to provide optimal Indoor Environmental Quality. From a ventilation and air conditioning perspective, it is a crucial part of the system. This Recommendation finally gives it the attention it deserves, as it provides all essential information on this technology to designers, contractors, facility managers and end users. It also highlights the obvious advantages of factory-fitted integrated controls over systems that are installed one-off on site by an external building automation contractor and clarifies why supplying an AHU with factory fitted controls should be considered a matter of course.”

This document was published by Eurovent and was prepared in a joint effort by participants of the Product Group ‘Air Handling Units’ (PG-AHU), which represents a vast majority of manufacturers of these products active on the EMEA market. It can be downloaded free of charge in the Eurovent Document Library.
