Panasonic to Showcase Seamless Building Sustainability at Retrofit 24

Panasonic partners with The Building Centre, London, to showcase its new sustainable and highly efficient air-to-water heat pumps for residential, commercial, cultural and civic buildings at Retrofit 24.

As the headline sponsor of this year’s event, Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions Ltd is showcasing its cutting-edge ECOi-W AQUA BLUE air-to-water reversible heat pump, designed to meet the ever-growing demands of large-scale commercial, industrial, and multi-dwelling residential applications.

ECOi-W AQUA BLUE can reach up to 70° C, leaving water temperature, making the heat pump systems a sustainable and energy-efficient solution for hot water in residential and commercial buildings. These innovative heat pumps use R290, a natural refrigerant with an exceptionally low Global Warming Potential (GWP) 3. This translates to a significantly reduced environmental impact compared to alternative refrigerants, showcasing Panasonic’s commitment to a low-carbon society.

The range boasts a high seasonal performance value with a maximum SEER 4,4 and SCOP 3,9 and has an impressive energy efficiency rating of A++. Panasonic offers a unique scroll compressor technology. The available sizes range from 50 kW to 80 kW, making it easier for businesses to find the perfect fit for their needs. In addition, the range can efficiently boost capacity up to 640 kW by connecting up to 8 units in cascade, ensuring adaptability to various project requirements.

Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions Ltd is showcasing its retrofit success through a case study at the University of West London in Paragon House. The robust existing system at Paragon House has been elevated through the installation of a three Panasonic 210 kW heat pump system, delivering maximum energy efficiency whilst remaining carbon conscious. Providing heat to the entire building, the installed Panasonic ECOi-W 210 kW units were the first of their kind fitted within the UK and Europe.

Jose Alves, Regional Director for Panasonic UK, Ireland, and the Netherlands said, “We are excited to showcase our new series of commercial air-to-water heat pump solutions at The Building Centre.  Our vision to reduce environmental impact aligns well with The Building Centre’s agenda. Architects, Engineers, Specifiers, and Installers alike can explore solutions to retrofit existing buildings to achieve environmental goals, meet efficiency requirements, save time and resources.”

John Bonning, Commercial Director of Retrofit 2024, encourages visitors, saying: “The Building Centre’s purpose is to bring together experts, leaders, and problem solvers from across the built environment sector to share, learn, and encourage each other. The fight to decarbonise and optimise our assets needs the attention of the best and the brightest in our industry. We’re bringing them together in a series of events open to all, centred on our exhibition, which will run through to the end of the summer.”

The Building Centre opened its doors on 20 March 2024, there is plenty of opportunity to visit this event, with free entry to all exhibitions and public access five days a week.
