Renewable heating and cooling in Spain

The Spanish roundtable kicked off on the 23rd of November with inspiring presentations by numerous speakers representing the Renewable heating and cooling sector in Spain.

Marta San Román, Director General at AFEC – the Spanish Heat Pump and Heating Ventilation Air-Conditioning (HVAC) Manufacturers Association – gave insights into Spain’s heat pump market. The manufacturers’ perspective was voiced by Enrique Vilamitjana, Managing Director at Panasonic HVAC Europe. Following the discussion, Jose Luis Corrales Ciganda, Senior Researcher at Tecnalia Research and Innovation, offered the R&I perspective.

The second half of the webinar held three interventions from Oleguer Fuertes, Group Product Manager-Solar at BDR Thermea Group, Javier F. Urchueguía Schölzel, Full Professor in the Department of Applied Physics of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) and David Tomas Sanchez Martinez, Full Professor in Energy Engineering at University of Seville.

They explored the role of heat pumps in solar-thermal (harvesting energy from the sun through solar panels) and geothermal (harvesting energy from the ground) energy generation as well as in waste heat recovery, with case studies from Spanish regions and cities.

Guiding the conversation, Elisabetta Tillier from the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA), moderated the roundtable, ensuring that every perspective was heard and fostering a collaborative atmosphere.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all the esteemed speakers and participants for their substantial and noteworthy contributions to this enlightening event. We greatly appreciate their valuable insights and unwavering dedication, which have played a pivotal role in laying the foundations for a greener and more sustainable future in Spain. As we progress, we reaffirm our staunch commitment to embracing the recommendations derived from this roundtable and diligently advancing toward the implementation of renewable heating and cooling solutions.

Stay tuned to the RHC ETIP Platform for future updates and events leading to a more sustainable Europe!
