Resideo launches Honeywell Home X8S smart thermostat in the US

Resideo Technologies has announced the launch of its Honeywell Home X8S smart thermostat in the United States. The new device offers touchscreen controls, energy-saving features, indoor air quality (IAQ) monitoring, and integration with Ring and First Alert video doorbells.

The Honeywell Home X8S enables users to view live video from compatible doorbells directly on its five-inch touchscreen and speak to visitors from the device. It also allows for customization of idle screens to show information such as a five-day weather forecast, digital clocks, and IAQ indicators.

The thermostat monitors humidity, volatile organic compounds, and estimated CO2 levels. With support from HVAC installers, homeowners can maintain optimal IAQ through humidity and ventilation control. The system also provides alerts when it detects unusual HVAC patterns, notifying both the user and a connected technician.

Additional features include adaptive temperature recovery, Smart Room Sensors, and auto-away settings through the First Alert app. According to Resideo, users who consistently follow recommended scheduling can save an average of $204 annually on energy costs.

The Honeywell Home X8S thermostat supports various HVAC configurations, features dual-band WiFi, and is compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Home. It is Matter certified and uses the Honeywell Home UWP wall-mounting system for simplified installation.

The thermostat is available in black or white models for $219.99 (U.S. MSRP) via HoneywellHome.com and major retailers in the U.S. and Canada. Homeowners can install the device themselves or contact a professional via Honeywell’s contractor locator service.

“The X8S does all that you would expect of a premium thermostat, and so much more – like seeing who's at the door without lifting a finger through our doorbell integration,” said Pat Tessier, Vice President of Product Development for Honeywell Home and First Alert solutions at Resideo.
