Rheem has released its 2025 Sustainability Progress Report, stating that it met or exceeded all targets set seven years ago under its “A Greater Degree of Good” initiative. The HVAC and water heating manufacturer reported progress in reducing environmental impact across global operations.
In 2025, Rheem said it exceeded its target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50%, achieving a 55% reduction across global manufacturing operations compared with its 2018 baseline. The company attributed the progress to refrigerant transitions, expanded renewable energy use, facility modernization and improved leak detection.
All manufacturing sites included in the 2019 program launch have achieved Zero Waste to Landfill status, according to the report. Rheem said facilities in Mexico, Europe and the Middle East are using on-site renewable energy, while other facilities in South America and Europe use clean power.
Rheem also reported progress in workforce training. The company said it reached its 2025 goal of training 250,000 professionals three years early and delivered more than 800,000 training sessions between 2019 and 2025 for contractors and key influencers on sustainable products, installation techniques and best practices.
The company established 11 new trade school partnerships in the US, expanded technical training and collaborative events in the Middle East and Africa, and opened an Innovation Learning Center in Auckland, New Zealand.
“The achievement of our first set of goals marks an important milestone and sets the foundation for the future,” said Chee Wee Gan, senior vice president, strategy & sustainability, Rheem. “We will continue to focus on making our operations and products more sustainable while creating enduring value for our customers, contractors and partners.”
