SCANVAC has awarded Professor Olli Seppänen honorary membership in recognition of his long-term work to strengthen cooperation between Nordic and Baltic countries and promote the federation worldwide. The award was presented on 26 June 2026.
Seppänen is the third person to receive the distinction. Previous recipients were Halvor Røstad of Norway and Per Rasmussen of Denmark, who were recognized for their contributions to Nordic HVAC cooperation.
SCANVAC President Professor Risto Kosonen presented the honorary title together with Secretary General Siru Lönnqvist. Seppänen previously served as SCANVAC president and played a central role in revitalizing the Nordic Ventilation Group and expanding SCANVAC’s international visibility.
Seppänen’s work has focused on indoor air quality and ventilation research. SCANVAC said his contributions have supported its mission to promote healthy and energy-efficient indoor environments.
“Professor Seppänen’s dedication has significantly strengthened SCANVAC’s role in the Nordic and Baltic regions. His leadership and international engagement have helped ensure that SCANVAC remains a respected voice in advancing indoor climate science and HVAC innovation,” said SCANVAC President Professor Risto Kosonen.
Founded in 1994, SCANVAC unites professional HVAC associations across Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Estonia.
