Smart Care acquires Mr. C Refrigeration to expand U.S. service reach

Smart Care, a portfolio company of Wind Point Partners, has acquired Mr. C Refrigeration, Inc., a provider of refrigeration and HVAC installation and repair services in the South-Central United States. The transaction closed on June 18, 2025.

The acquisition strengthens Smart Care’s commercial refrigeration capabilities in Kentucky and surrounding areas and supports its service expansion for Life Sciences customers. Mr. C Refrigeration will become part of Smart Care’s Climate Solutions business.

Based in Louisville, Kentucky, Mr. C offers installation, emergency repair, and preventative maintenance for refrigeration and HVAC systems. This acquisition marks Smart Care’s thirteenth since its partnership with Wind Point.

Smart Care is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, and provides services for stand-alone refrigeration, rack refrigeration, HVAC, hot-side cooking, and specialty beverage equipment. Its Climate Solutions division serves grocery stores, warehouse operators, convenience stores, and restaurants nationwide.

“This is a clear win for our customers in the Central U.S., but also better positions us to support our Life Sciences customers,” said James Mylett, CEO of Smart Care Solutions. “The addition of this reputable service organization enables us to deliver more comprehensive solutions to a broader customer base.”

Konrad Salaber, Managing Director at Wind Point, added, “This acquisition aligns well with our local and national expansion strategy. Scaling abilities in key markets will accelerate growth and deliver long-term value for Smart Care and its customers.”
