Smart Control, Efficient Climate: A Campaign for Regulation and Control Awareness

Amid growing concerns about energy efficiency and sustainability, the campaign "Smart Control, Efficient Climate" highlights the essential role of regulation and control systems in ensuring the health, safety, and sustainability of thermal and climate control installations in buildings.

The Association of Air Conditioning Equipment Manufacturers (AFEC), together with several of its member companies specializing in thermal and climate control system regulation, has launched this campaign to emphasize the importance of Regulation and Control (R+C) systems as key components in enhancing energy efficiency and comfort. Beyond regulatory compliance, the initiative aims to inform industry professionals and the general public about the benefits of R+C systems in improving health, safety, and sustainability. This, in turn, will strengthen business competitiveness and innovation, positioning Spain's HVAC industry on par with other European countries.

The working group behind this initiative, coordinated by AFEC, was established as an open and inclusive platform to bring together cross-sector expertise. Over the past year, the R+C space has expanded to include AFEC members such as Airzone, Baxi, Belimo, Carel, Carrier, Daikin, Danfoss, Johnson Controls, Kieback&Peter, Orkli, Panasonic, Siemens, Sistena, Sodeca, Trane, Trox, Vaillant, Viessmann, as well as representatives from AEDICI, CONAIF, Delta Dore, and others.

By fostering collaboration and applying best practices, AFEC and its partners aim to contextualize regulatory frameworks, anticipate future needs - such as the transposition of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) - and promote a culture focused on integrated solutions. The initiative seeks to optimize technology integration, maximize system performance, assess the adoption of Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS), and improve both energy efficiency and user experience.
