Trane Technologies and CIT launch sustainable refrigeration training center in India

Trane Technologies has partnered with Cambridge Institute of Technology (CIT) in Bengaluru to inaugurate the Centre for Sustainable Refrigeration and Climate Control. The new facility aims to strengthen industry–academia collaboration and provide practical training in HVAC and climate technologies for engineering students.

The center is part of Trane Technologies’ 2030 Sustainability Commitment, which includes goals such as carbon reduction through its Gigaton Challenge and promoting STEM education. The facility is equipped with Trane’s advanced HVAC systems and is designed as a hands-on learning lab for student-led sessions, faculty development, and demonstrations.

As part of the collaboration, Trane Technologies and CIT are developing a credit-based curriculum that blends academic knowledge with industry-relevant skills to prepare students for careers in HVAC and climate control.

"This center provides students with real-world exposure to advanced HVAC technologies, application-focused learning, faculty development, knowledge exchanges and reinforces CIT's status as an innovation-driven institution," said Wilson Lawrence, Vice President & General Manager, India Engineering and Technology Centers, Trane Technologies.

Trane Technologies has also extended similar academic collaborations with institutions such as Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, VIT Vellore, and Vel Tech University in Chennai. These partnerships support specialized training and knowledge exchange on HVAC and climate innovation.

In recognition of its industry-academia initiatives, Trane Technologies received the Gold Award in the 'Top Company – Manufacturing and Service (Large)' category at the CII Industry Academia Partnerships Awards 2025.
