Trane Technologies, a global leader in climate innovation, has announced the acquisition of BrainBox AI, a pioneer in autonomous HVAC controls and AI building technology. The Montreal-based BrainBox AI has developed a platform that uses deep learning to optimize building energy needs, reducing energy consumption by up to 25% and GHG emissions by up to 40%.
BrainBox AI's technology is utilized in over 14,000 commercial buildings worldwide. The acquisition will expand Trane Technologies' digital and building management capabilities, building on an existing collaboration between the two companies over the past two years. This partnership aims to enhance energy efficiency and reduce carbon footprints through advanced smart building solutions.
Once the transaction closes in early 2025, BrainBox AI's 190 associates will join Trane Technologies, and its operations will remain in Montreal. This move aims to further leverage the region's AI ecosystem and accelerate global AI innovation.
Sam Ramadori, CEO of BrainBox AI, emphasized the merger’s potential to scale smart building solutions and address climate change. BrainBox AI's ARIA platform, a recent invention recognized by TIME, exemplifies its cutting-edge capabilities in facility management.
The acquisition aligns with Trane Technologies' strategy of integrating advanced technologies to enhance its core business, with expectations for strong returns over time. Further financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
