Eurovent Certification and the UK’s Energy Technology List (ETL) have strengthened their collaboration by aligning testing standards for rooftop heat pump units. This development allows manufacturers to use Eurovent Certification test reports when applying for ETL listing, provided the products meet the ETL’s energy performance criteria.
The ETL is a UK Government-backed scheme managed by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ). It features around 8,000 independently verified energy-efficient products across 65 sub-technology groups. To qualify, products must rank among the top 25% in energy efficiency within their class. The scheme is free to use for both manufacturers and specifiers.
Eurovent Certification is a third-party certification body that independently verifies HVAC and refrigeration product performance through a rigorous process involving lab testing, factory audits, and software and data checks.
Rooftop heat pumps, commonly used in retail and small commercial buildings, provide integrated ventilation, heating, and cooling. These systems are now part of a growing list of aligned technologies under the Eurovent–ETL partnership. Other aligned products include evaporative air coolers, refrigerated display cabinets, and various types of heat pumps.
Manufacturers with Eurovent-certified rooftop units can now streamline their ETL application process, reducing administrative workload while maintaining compliance with verified performance standards.
"Choosing products holding Eurovent Certified Performance and listing on the ETL not only removes uncertainty from the selection process but also supports decarbonisation goals," the announcement states.
