UNE, the Spanish Association for Standardization, recognized the work of CTN-UNE 100 Climatización during its General Assembly in Madrid. The committee received the López Agüí 2026 Award for its activity in areas including energy efficiency, ecological transition, building digitalization, and technical solutions for construction and industry.
The award also recognized Cecilia Salamanca, head of AFEC’s Technical Department, for her leadership as technical secretary of the committee. AFEC, the Spanish Association of Air Conditioning Equipment Manufacturers, participated in the UNE General Assembly, which highlighted the role of standardization in supporting a more efficient, innovative, and sustainable sector.
CTN-UNE 100 Climatización was created with UNE in 1986 and marks its 40th anniversary with 278 standards in force. Its work serves as a technical reference for regulatory frameworks including the Technical Building Code, the Regulation on Thermal Installations in Buildings, and the Safety Regulation for Refrigeration Installations, as well as European standardization related to Ecodesign and Energy Labelling.
During the award ceremony, UNE highlighted Salamanca’s coordination work with professionals, companies, institutions, and organizations involved in CTN100. The recognition also noted her conciliatory approach, support for new work areas, promotion of public-private collaboration, and contribution to spreading standardization through social media, newsletters, events, congresses, and other sector channels.
The award was presented by Alfredo Berges, president of UNE. Salamanca thanked the committee members for their support and noted the shift in recent years from a passive role focused on gathering information to active participation, including in international working groups.
AFEC also acknowledged its long-standing collaboration with UNE, based on joint work and a shared commitment to standardization, technical rigor, and the development of the HVAC, thermal installations, and air conditioning sector in Spain.
