UNEP knowledge maps of refrigeration sector organisations and training centres worldwide

UNEP has launched its OzonAction Knowledge Maps tool, which offers access to data and information about relevant stakeholders in the refrigeration sector, including air conditioning and heat pumps (RACHP) worldwide.

In the latest issue of its “OzoNews” newsletter, UNEP announced the launch of its OzonAction Knowledge Maps tool, designed to provide access to data and information on stakeholders in the refrigeration sector.

Currently, the first two knowledge maps available are:

Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning, and Heat Pumps (RACHP) Associations & Organizations

This Knowledge Map provides a global directory of RACHP associations, societies, and organisations. These are key stakeholders in ensuring safe and efficient refrigerant transitions, in training technicians and in supporting national policies related to the Montreal Protocol.
As of July 2021, there were 284 associations and organisations listed in 107 countries.

Local Technical & Vocational Education and Training (TVET)

This Knowledge Map provides a global directory of TVET entities and centres. These are strategic partners for conducting and promoting training and certification programmes related to the refrigeration servicing sector. As of July 2021, there were 256 TVET institutions and organisations listed in 164 countries.

To develop this tool, UNEP OzonAction collected and reviewed various datasets from multiple sources, and then presented the collected datasets in the form of a global map. The data and information provided will be updated regularly through the feedback received from UNEP partners. Further maps are currently under development by UNEP.
