Vern M. Sanderson named Executive Director of RETA-RSES

RETA-RSES has announced the appointment of Vern M. Sanderson as its new Executive Director. The announcement was made during the 2025 RETA Annual Conference, in front of over 1,300 attendees at the association's Annual Business Meeting.

Sanderson brings more than 37 years of experience in the industrial and commercial refrigeration industry. A former RETA National Board Member, he has held every nationally elected office, including National President. He is also a RETA Authorized Instructor (RAI) and the author of nearly 200 industry articles and the book Functional Standard Operating Procedures for the Ammonia Refrigeration Industry.

In his new role, Sanderson aims to expand training, testing, and certification opportunities across the HVACR industry. He also plans to increase industry news coverage, training options, and chapter meeting accessibility. Enhancing the Annual Conference is also among his priorities, aiming to offer greater value to exhibitors, sponsors, and advertisers by leveraging the combined reach of RETA and RSES.

Sanderson previously served on the RETA-RSES Merge Committee and was involved in preparing the joint booth at the Annual Conference. He will work alongside Interim Executive Director Don Tragethon during the transition period.

“After watching Vern observe the processes and procedures these past couple of weeks, I have no doubt he will bring our Association to the next level of success,” said Tragethon.
