Viessmann is building a new site for its Refrigeration Solutions business area in Poland

Viessmann is building a new site for its Refrigeration Solutions business area. The company launched the construction of its new location in Legnica, Poland with a foundation stone laying ceremony. The new building underscores the company's intention to expand Refrigeration Solutions into another core business in the medium term, alongside the traditional Climate Solutions business area, which will ensure additional growth.

The refrigeration markets in Central Europe are important growth drivers for the coming years, making Viessmann take the decision to build the Polish site. Viessmann Refrigeration Solutions in general pursues the goal of developing state-of-the-art products while operating as efficiently and sustainably as possible. The new site in Legnica offers the right conditions for this.

“The new Viessmann site will express our continued commitment to grow the Refrigeration Solutions further. Legnica offers us a good basis to be close to our main markets in Central Europe, reflecting our purpose for creating living spaces for generations to come," said Max Viessmann, CEO of Viessmann Group at the foundation stone laying ceremony. “It will foster collaboration and co-creation between our Climate and Refrigeration Solutions businesses, as they are both significant employers for the local community and share the same home base.”

Largest single investment in the Refrigeration Solutions business area

As a strategic addition to the existing Refrigeration Solutions plants in Hof (Germany) and Porvoo (Finland), Legnica site will ensure even closer proximity to customers in Central Europe. Therefore it is of particular importance that the logistics are carried out from such a central location for the Eastern European markets. The opening of the new location is planned for the end of 2022; the recruiting process for the team is currently in full swing.

The project is the largest single investment by the Refrigeration Solutions business since its inception in 2013. In its final expansion stage, up to 200 people are expected to work for the new site in Legnica.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to expand our capabilities closer to our customers. We are particularly delighted about the committed and competent people which we have already been working with, and the good cooperation between the local authorities. Together we can make the new Refrigeration Solutions site a great success,” said Frank Winters, CEO of Viessmann Refrigeration Solutions. \

Another Viessmann location makes the company a significant employer in the Legnica region

The Viessmann Climate Solutions plant in Legnica has existed for years, producing primarily heat pumps that are so important for achieving global energy and climate policy goals. The new site is only the beginning as Viessmann continues to invest significantly in further development within the region and the close proximity of the company's two largest and most important business areas, Climate Solutions and Refrigeration Solutions, exploits major investment synergies.
