Southern European Condensing Units Market Shows Steady Growth

BSRIA's latest market analysis reveals continued growth in the condensing units sector in Italy and Spain, with total sales value reaching $185 million (179.6 million euros) in 2024. The expansion of cold storage facilities and increasing demand for perishable goods are key drivers of this trend.

According to BSRIA, sales in both countries are expected to grow steadily over the next five years. The industry is focusing on improving energy efficiency and reducing environmental impact by developing advanced compressors and adopting natural refrigerants such as CO₂ and propane. The share of CO₂-based condensing units in yearly sales is projected to increase from 10% to over 40% by 2029.

Leading manufacturers, including Zanotti, Rivacold, Intarcon, and Tecumseh, are investing in research and development to introduce products that comply with environmental regulations while meeting market demands.

Supermarkets and the HoReCa (Hotel, Restaurant, and Catering) sector accounted for more than half of condensing unit sales in Spain and Italy last year. Monoblocks and cased condensing units are widely used in kitchen refrigeration, display units, and cold storage.

The agri-food sector, which represents approximately 9% of GDP in both countries, also plays a significant role in the demand for refrigeration equipment.

BSRIA’s reports provide detailed insights into the condensing units market, including sales data by volume and value, five-year forecasts, segmentation by capacity and application, compressor types, refrigerants used, and competitive landscape analysis.
