Mitsubishi Electric Trane expands US HVAC portfolio with low-GWP systems

Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US (METUS) reported several product introductions and leadership appointments during the first half of 2026, alongside continued support for contractors and distributors transitioning to A2L refrigerants in the United States.

The company expanded its SMART MULTI range with a single-phase, 5-ton Hyper-Heating INVERTER (H2i) outdoor unit for cold-climate applications, using low-global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant and A2L-compliant features. METUS also introduced its single-phase ecodan air-to-water heat pump lineup for hydronic heating, cooling and domestic hot water.

For three-phase hydronic and domestic hot water applications, METUS launched the ecodanPro product line, which debuted with the modular CAHV system featuring low-GWP refrigerant and scalable capacity for commercial and institutional applications. The company also announced its CITY MULTI X-Generation VRF lineup, transitioning systems above 65 BTU/h to a low-GWP refrigerant and introducing redesigned outdoor units for future commercial applications.

METUS introduced the Comfort app as a replacement for kumo cloud, adding scheduling, multi-zone connectivity and contractor-to-homeowner communication features. During the same period, the company used weekly cross-functional team check-ins as part of its efforts to provide guidance and support to independent contractors and distributors adapting to the A2L refrigerant transition.

Andrew Kelso became CEO on April 1, 2026, succeeding Mark Kuntz. METUS also appointed Brinnon Williams as Senior Vice President, Integrated Growth; Robert Smith as Senior Vice President, Integrated Operations; Greg Moser as Senior Vice President, Chief of Staff; and Takashi Nakajima as Chief Strategy Officer.

“The first half of 2026 reflects the strength of our team and our continued focus on delivering all-electric, all-climate heat pump solutions,” said Kelso. “From strengthened leadership to expanded innovation, we’re building on a strong foundation to support our customers and communities today and in the years ahead.”
