Atlas Copco introduces upgraded TCX chillers with R32 refrigerant in the UK

Atlas Copco has launched an upgraded version of its TCX industrial chiller range in the United Kingdom, featuring R32 refrigerant and improved energy efficiency aimed at reducing operational costs and environmental impact.

The new TCX13-110AG chillers offer a cooling capacity range from 13 kW to 115 kW, targeting industries that require precise temperature control, such as machine tooling, plastics processing, pharmaceutical production, and food and beverage manufacturing.

The series incorporates scroll compressors, brazed plate heat exchangers, and microchannel condensers that enhance energy transfer efficiency and reduce the required refrigerant charge. The use of R32 refrigerant, which has a lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) than previous-generation gases, aligns with global environmental regulations.

Additional features include electronic expansion valves for accurate refrigerant control, optional EC brushless fans for further energy savings, and corrosion-resistant materials to improve durability. The chillers are also equipped with Smartlink connectivity, enabling remote monitoring, predictive maintenance, and real-time system optimisation.

According to Chris Ferriday, Business Line Manager for Process Cooling Solutions at Atlas Copco Compressors UK: “The transition to R32 refrigerant represents a significant advancement for our TCX chiller line. It allows our customers to lower their carbon emissions without compromising efficiency or reliability.”
