Carrier introduces upgraded AquaForce 30XF with FreeBoost

Carrier has unveiled its enhanced AquaForce 30XF chiller with the new FreeBoost technology at Data Centre World Paris 2025. Designed as part of the QuantumLeap Solutions portfolio, the upgraded system targets high-performance, energy-efficient data centres operating under high ambient conditions.

The AquaForce 30XF, previously optimised for free cooling, now incorporates FreeBoost technology to improve mechanical cooling performance. According to Carrier, this delivers seasonal efficiency up to 25 under data centre conditions and supports Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) levels below 1.2. The unit is certified by PEP ecopassport and Eurovent for use under data centre conditions, making it the first chiller to hold both certifications in this category.

The updated design also features a reduced unit height for easier installation in existing infrastructure. “The 30XF’s combination of higher energy efficiency and reduced power input lowers the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO),” said Aritz Calvo, Product Manager for Screw Chillers and Heat Pumps at Carrier Climate Solutions Europe.

Jérémie Chang, Data Centre Vertical Marketing Manager at Carrier Climate Solutions Europe, noted that the reduced power input offers customers flexibility to downsize generators or increase IT power capacity to run more servers.

Carrier highlights additional improvements, including ultra-fast capacity recovery within 60–120 seconds and stable performance in ambient temperatures up to 55°C. The unit operates at sound levels as low as 94 dB(A). Maintenance is simplified through the use of Carrier's proprietary compressor technology, eliminating dependence on third-party components.

The chiller also integrates with Carrier's QuantumLeap system-level controls, powered by Nlyte DCIM and Automated Logic’s Building Automation System (BAS), to enhance energy and performance management.
