Copeland to Launch Vilter Industrial Single-Skid Heat Pump to Accelerate Energy Transition

Copeland, a global leader in sustainable climate solutions, has launched the Vilter VQ95 industrial heat pump to help customers reduce their carbon footprints. This single-stage heat pump is designed to support decarbonization efforts in district heating and industrial process heating, particularly in industries like food and beverage production.

With global initiatives aimed at reducing dependency on fossil fuels, the industrial heat pump market is expected to experience significant growth. A McKinsey report estimates the market will increase from $4 billion in 2023 to $21 billion by 2030, as electrification of industrial heating becomes a key strategy for reducing energy consumption and emissions.

The Vilter VQ95 is designed to integrate into existing facilities more easily than traditional, custom-built on-site systems. Using ammonia (NH3) as a natural refrigerant, it delivers high efficiency with minimal environmental impact. The heat pump’s compact, modular design provides flexibility and scalability, with capacities ranging from 1 to 5 MW per unit. The system’s simplicity, with fewer moving parts, minimizes maintenance costs and ensures long service intervals.

Key features of the Vilter VQ95 include:

  • Simplicity: User-friendly design with plug-and-play modularity, reducing complexity in operation and maintenance.
  • Performance: High coefficient of performance and high lift capabilities, often eliminating the need for multi-stage systems.
  • Reliability: The single-screw compressor ensures industrial-grade performance with reduced maintenance requirements.
  • Flexibility: Modular design with scalable capacity options and over 2,000 standard configurations, supporting heating temperatures up to 95°C in a single-stage system.

The Vilter VQ95 industrial heat pump, developed in Copeland’s Denmark-based center of excellence, will debut at Chillventa 2024, showcasing its potential to help industries meet sustainability goals.
